Welcome!

Fix the Leak

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid.

The LORD, the LORD is my strength and song;

He has become my salvation.

Isaiah 12:2 (NIV)

Recently, my son discovered a leak in his truck that allowed water to seep into the gas tank. As you probably know, water and gasoline don’t mix well, so the engine would sputter and die.

Worry and trust are similar: they don’t mix well. We can’t trust God and give in to worry at the same time.

I’m not saying that anxious thoughts are sinful. Because of our human nature, we fall prey to fretful thoughts. It’s the way in which we deal with those thoughts that will either cause us to feel like victims or place us in a position of victory.

One of the enemy’s favorite tactics is to whisper doubt and fear into our minds, especially at night. If he can’t rob us of our peace, he will try to rob us of our rest.

Yet, as followers of Christ, we have full access to all the resources needed to stand against the devil’s schemes. We have a whole arsenal of weapons at our disposal, useful to fight the forces that attempt to trip us up, drive us to worry, fret, and lose sleep (Ephesians 6:10-18).

Isaiah states, “I will trust and not be afraid.” When trust becomes our go-to in times of fear, when trust fuels our days and drives us into God’s loving arms, then worry loses its grip on us.

As for my son’s gas tank, there’s only one way to repair that; fix the leak.
