All That I Need

I am so glad God knows the difference between what I need and what I want.

Sometimes He provides what I want because He loves me. And sometimes he says no or not yet.

But He always provides what I need.

This week, I sat down and wrote my own version of Psalm 23 as it pertains to my life experiences with God as my personal Shepherd. I would encourage you to take time this week to do the same.

“The Lord has been my shepherd, I have all that I need.

Because of His shepherding care, I have rested in green meadows, I have delighted in peaceful streams.

Time and again He has renewed my strength, He has led me along the path He designed especially for me so His name might be glorified.

Even those times when I have walked through the darkest valleys, I have not succumbed to crippling fear because I knew He was close beside me, at times even carrying me close to his heart.

His shepherd’s crook and staff have brought me comfort, knowing He was protecting me from those enemies that might otherwise worry and threaten me.

Even in the lean times, He has provided more than enough.

He has poured His favor and blessing upon me to the point where my cup isn’t just full, it’s overflowing.

Through the highs and the lows, I have known God’s goodness and unfailing love.

I have never encountered a single moment when His mercies haven’t blessed me beyond human understanding.

Yet He has so much more in store for me.

When I think of heaven and the joy of living with Him for eternity, I know the best is yet to come.”

(My personal translation of Psalm 23).

With God as my shepherd, I have all that I need—and so much more besides.
