Welcome!

Choices

But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted

by many things; But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part,

which will not be taken away from her.”

Luke 10:41- 42 (NKJV)

Another Christmas has come and gone. A new year awaits. It will mingle challenges with blessings. I choose to focus on the blessings, cherishing each one as a hand-crafted gift from my heavenly Father. I also choose to accept the hard times as opportunities to grow, to cultivate patience, kindness, compassion, and trust.

Choices impact who I am as a person. Some can change the course of my life for a moment or for years to come. I can struggle against them or welcome them as God-given assignments intended to develop within me a teachable mind and a gracious spirit.

Choices will abound throughout the coming year. The manner in which I respond suggests who I am as a person and whose I am as God’s child. Like Mary, I choose devotion over distraction, balance over busyness, love over hatred or selfish ambition, mercy over indifference, humility over selfish pride, and gentleness over harsh words.

I will seek to prioritize ‘being’ over ‘doing’: being content in my Father’s love, being silent before the Almighty God, being still in His embrace, listening to His voice, heeding His words, and waiting for His perfect timing.

May that one thing needed be to seek God’s kingdom above all. Then everything else will fall into its rightful place.

Thought: “The remarkable thing is, we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.” – Chuck Swindoll
