The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not fear them, for I have given them into your hands. Not a man of them shall stand before you.” Joshua 10:8 (ESV)
Joshua and the army of Israel were up against five kings and their vast armies. The odds were not in their favor, but God was on their side. Oh, how I love those ‘but’ moments in the Bible! They remind us that though the evidence is clear, God is not limited by circumstances. Numbers carry no weight for God. Size matters not one bit. Though Joshua was outnumbered, he was not outdone. He had God on his side and that made all the difference!
Romans 8:31-39 reminds us that in Christ, we will never be defeated. We were under His protection the moment we surrendered our lives to God. Whosoever rises up against us faces poor odds because we’ve already won through Christ’s work on the cross. Whatever stands in our way will have to cede because you and I are more than conquerors.
