Welcome!

When God Directs My Steps

Guest Post by Author C.A. Simonson

“A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs His steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)

“The highway of the upright avoids evil; those who guard their ways preserve their lives.” (Proverbs 16:17)

Galatians 5:25 states, “Since we live in the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” It sounds like dance partners moving with the rhythm, keeping in step as the music changes. Proverbs 16:9 says, “a man’s heart plans his ways, but the Lord directs his steps.” We must follow God’s lead.

Psalm 119:105 says, “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” But there may be times when there’s only enough light for one step. In those times, we trust His leading and put one foot in front of the other like an obedient soldier. Marching to the gospel of peace, we stay in line on the straight path, neither swerving to the left nor the right. (Proverbs 4:27)

God directs our steps each day as we are mindful to look for road signs along the way. Follow the Light. Jesus said, “I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness.” (John 8:12)

Obey the stop signs. “Stop grumbling.” (John 6:43) “Stop judging.” (John 7:24)

Don’t park –no loitering. “Keep away from the idle,” says II Thessalonians 3:6.

Keep going. “I press on toward the goal.” (Philippians 3:14)

Beware of roadblocks, detours, and obstacles. “Watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way.” (Romans 16:17)

I may not always see what’s ahead, but as long as I keep in step with the Spirit, my foot will land on the solid Rock.

PRAYER: Lord, I am so grateful You can see what’s ahead on my path. Help me keep in step and follow Your lead. AMEN.
