“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).
Unto you… unto me… a child is born.
God, the Almighty God, gets personal. You, me, we were in His mind, in His heart from the beginning of time. Seeds of love born long before we were conceived.
Unto you… unto me… whatever your backstory, your baggage, your burdens… no exceptions, no conditions, no one disqualified.
Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. God surrenders heaven to find you, to find me, whoever we are, wherever we are.
This is the meaning of Christmas: God pursuing you, pursuing me to the ends of the earth because He doesn’t want to spend eternity without us.
