“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” (Psalm 27:14)
It seems God takes His time waiting for the exact moment for eternity’s plan. For hundreds of years, people awaited the promised Messiah. Many Jewish girls dreamed of becoming the mother of the Christ child. The world was in a tumult; the Romans ruled with an iron hand. The Jews wanted something to happen immediately. Tax collectors were unscrupulous. Religious leaders were corrupt; crime was rampant. Yet God waited. God planned it ages before. “When the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman.”(Galatians 4:4). God’s perfect timing.
Even Jesus had to wait. Confined to a woman’s womb for nine months, He had to wait another twelve years under the care of his earthly parents before entering the synagogue. Another eighteen years passed before His ministry began. Then taken immediately into the wilderness, Jesus had to wait another forty days and nights being tempted.
Waiting is one of the hardest things to do. Questions and doubts plague your mind. As you wait, God matures you. Waiting strengthens your resolve. Faith is built; trust is gleaned.
Next time you find yourself in life’s waiting room with unanswered questions, learn to trust the wait. The Lord’s timing is perfect. You may not understand, but at just the right time Christ will come through for you, too.
Just wait…and see.
PRAYER: Lord, teach me to wait on you when I cannot see any answers. Where I can’t see ahead, You do. Help me to trust the wait. AMEN.
