Welcome!

Today

“This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

I recently saw this post: “People wait all day for 5 p.m., all week for Friday, all summer for winter, all winter for summer, and all of life for happiness. Don’t let the pursuit of tomorrow diminish the joy of today (Imperfectly Simple).

It’s all too easy to be so focused on the future that we fail to appreciate today’s meaningful moments. Just this morning I woke to a spectacular sunrise. As I sipped my morning cup of British tea (a blessing in and of itself), I spotted several winter sparrows pecking at bugs in our driveway. A song on the radio blessed my heart. A friend sent me an encouraging email. These are the thousand little blessings God sprinkles throughout the day. It’s up to us to take note and appreciate them as gifts from the Father above.

But more than that, God gives us today to do something meaningful. “God gives us today as a gift. He wants us to pursue it, not just for selfish ambition but to do something meaningful with it. To use it to grow to love others well, to help someone, to pursue a dream He’s put on our hearts, … to be open, to believe, to hope.” – Tim Tebow

What will you do with this day? Enjoy it? Use it to do something meaningful? Live it rather than endure it? Whatever you do, don’t live in the future. Today is the day to live with your eyes wide open to whatever God has for you.

Prayer: Lord, I don’t want to miss any of your blessings. Help me live this day with joy, gratitude, purpose, intentionality, and with my eyes wide open to whatever you have for me. Amen.

Thought: Lord, keep me in the moment. Help me live with my eyes wide open, ’cause I don’t wanna miss what You have for me – Jeremy Camp, Keep Me in the Moment
