The Arm of the Lord

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Has my arm lost its power? Now you will see whether or not my word comes true! Numbers 11:23 (NLT)

Moses couldn’t do the math. The people were whining about eating manna every day. They wanted ‘the meats.’ So God told Moses to inform them that, on the morrow, they would have meat to eat. So Moses started to count cattle and came up short. Even if they were to kill all of their livestock, it wouldn’t be enough to feed everyone. What he didn’t figure into the equation was God’s mighty arm. God is a God of miracles. When He says He will provide, put the calculator away and wait for His mighty hand to move.

Our greatest challenge, as human beings, is limited vision. Yet God calls us to push aside the possible in favor of the impossible. He calls us to pray audacious prayers, to trust Him for the miraculous. To take that step of faith and live unfettered by the practical, the tangible, the possible. To faith for what we cannot see, to believe the unbelievable. The God who provided for the Israelites in the desert is still the same God today. Claim it. Believe it. Live it.

Prayer: Lord, strengthen my faith. Let me live unhampered by the limitations of human understanding and my limited comprehension. Grace me with eyes to see the impossible become possible. Amen.

Thought: “God is looking for those with whom He can do the impossible — what a pity that we plan only the things that we can do by ourselves.” – A.W. Tozer
