Chapter 2 of Proverbs reminds us that wisdom and knowledge come from the Lord. We may think we know a thing or two, but that sense of pride and reliance on self sometimes gets us into trouble. The Message translates verses 12 through 15, “They (wisdom, knowledge, and good sense) will keep you from making wrong turns or following the bad directions of those who are lost themselves . . . traveling paths that go nowhere, wandering in a maze of detours and dead ends.”

Wisdom – Not For Everyone

When I’ve had someone toss something at me, e.g. an insult, a questionable story, or hateful material, the best thing I can do is to question the source. Who’s telling me this? Why? What is their endgame? Are they a legitimate source? Is it useful or interesting?
Wonderful Counselor
In Christ, we have a Wonderful Counselor. Not just a source of wisdom but Wisdom Himself. Not just someone who will listen and offer wisdom, but a God who came down from heaven to live among us, walk alongside us, carry our burdens, and stay with us through every struggle and hardship
