The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4 (NIV)
When the apostle Paul refers to strongholds, he is not speaking about stone structures but spiritual fortifications that try to exclude God or deny His existence; twisted arguments, warped ideologies, carnal philosophies, corrupt opinions. The evil one captures our minds and fills them with fear, anxiety, discouragement, or defeat. Satan, the master of lies, tries to convince us that God is AWOL.
Paul reminds us that this battle is spiritual. When we’re under attack, we have weapons at our disposal. These include prayer and the Word of God. They have divine power, a power so potent that they can demolish those strongholds and give us victory over Satan. The problem is that we don’t always avail ourselves of these spiritual weapons.
Paul goes on to say in verse 5, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” Take captive every thought . . .
Let me ask you a question; Who captures your attention the most throughout the day– the world or God?
