Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 ESV
Most of us are familiar with the “Pay It Forward” movement. The concept took off like wildfire as people began to perform acts of kindness for others without thought of repayment or return. The expectation is that the recipients will, in turn, bless someone else.
We can apply that same concept to the body of Christ. We have all been given spiritual gifts. Those gifts are not meant for our own good as much as they are intended to be used ‘for the common good.’
“Somewhere, someone needs the gifts that God has blessed you with. When you allow Him to use you in those gifts, people will be blessed by it.”1 Let me add to that; the blessing lies not as much in the gift itself, as in what happens in other people’s hearts and lives when you use your God-given gift. When you step into what God has called you to do and embrace the purpose behind your spiritual gifts, lives will be touched.
It doesn’t matter who you are or what gift God has given you. Someone out there needs what you have to give. It’s time to pass it on.
Prayer: Lord, use me according to your purposes and plans. May I be a blessing to others. In your name I pray, Amen.
Thought: “God gives us today as a gift. He wants us to pursue it, not just for selfish ambition but to do something meaningful with it. To use it to grow, to love others well, to help someone, to pursue a dream He’s put on our hearts.” – Tim Tebow
