Welcome!

“Know therefore today that He who goes over before you as a consuming fire is the Lord your God.” Deuteronomy 9:3 (ESV)

This summer, fires have consumed thousands of acres here in the U.S. and abroad. Extreme heat waves and dry conditions have contributed to increasing fire activity. Nothing and no one can withstand the intense heat and flames of an uncontained fire.

In the book of Deuteronomy, God calls Himself a consuming fire. The nations on the other side of the Jordan would not be able to withstand the onslaught of the Israelites – not because they were stronger, not because they were more skilled in warfare, not because they owned better weapons – but because God Himself was going ahead of them.

How often I forget that God is the one who is leading and I’m simply called to follow. I get all worked up when I see a hurdle looming up ahead, wondering how I’m going to cope with it instead of quietly taking God’s hand knowing He won’t lead me where He hasn’t preceded me.

Remember, no matter how great, tall, or mighty our foe, our God is greater, taller, and mightier. He will always make a way. You can stake all your tomorrows on that.
