“America’s future is not written by our enemies.” – President Donald Trump, September 11th, 2018.

What a beautiful statement, full of truth and encouragement. But if I may, I’d like to replace his words with my own. I say to you, “Your future is not written by the enemy.”

I understand all too well how the enemy loves to convince us we are nothing, we’ll do nothing, go nowhere, and that we have no future. The enemy rejoices in causing us to dispute the goodness of God and the plans He has for us. But there is one thing he cannot do, and that is to rewrite our future! Satan has no authority to rewrite what God has already written. Satan will try to convince us to doubt God and His plans. He whispers lies to us like, you’re not enough, and God can’t use you. He’ll urge us to look at what we have done, or where we have come from. Our adversary will tell us we’re not smart enough or strong enough.

When we let the enemy inside our heads, we doubt the future God has written for us.

Friend, let’s not allow Satan to steal the future God has already written, the future that’s waiting for us. We’re God’s creation, created by Him and for Him. He calls us worthy, enough, loved, accepted, child, and friend. I realize it’s simple to speak these things and tougher to believe them. And if you’re not convinced that He loves you and has a future for you, I encourage you to get into His word. All the truth you need is tucked away in its pages.

“Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began.” Psalm 139:16 (CBS)

Prayer: Father, today I choose your story for my life. Today, I oppose any plan that the enemy has to draw my eyes off of you, what you have for my future, or who you say I am. May I not weaken when the adversary comes at me with his smooth little lies, but ready myself, embedded in your word to fight back with the truth. Jesus, thank you for defeating the enemy long before I met him. Thank you for offering me the same power to fight as you carry inside of you. Lord, today I claim the future you have for me. In Jesus name, Amen.
