Our Father Already Knows

“Before he had finished speaking, behold Rebekah . . . came out with her water jar on her shoulder.” – Genesis 24:15

Rebekah’s appearance was divinely timed. Her arrival and response to Isaac’s servant’s request were not coincidences but a testament to the meticulous care and divine hand of God. This passage serves as a poignant reminder that God is all-knowing. He is fully aware of the worries and concerns that daily bombard our minds. He understands our innermost desires (Psalm 37:4).

Often, in the midst of our struggles and uncertainties, we may feel that our prayers are but whispers in the vastness of the universe. Yet, this verse assures us that God hears us even before we finish speaking. His understanding transcends our prayers, and His responses are already in motion before our words are formulated and spilled out before Him.

In your moments of anxiety and doubt, take solace in the fact that God knows what you need, often better than you do. His answers may not always align with your immediate expectations, but they are perfectly timed and suited to your ultimate good. Trust that your needs and desires are known and that God’s provisions are always on time.

Prayer: Lord, we thank you that you are all-knowing. Nothing we say or think ever takes you by surprise. Help us to bring even the smallest concerns before your throne of grace, resting in the knowledge that you will work it all out to your glory. Amen.

Thought: “If your day is hemmed in with prayer, it is less likely to come unraveled.” Cynthia Lewis
