Welcome!

New Year, Same Love

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever.” Psalm 136:1 (entire chapter repeats the phrase).

As a new year dawns, many thoughts and emotions assail me. If I lend my ear to them, feelings quickly threaten to overwhelm me. I can’t afford to go there. Instead, I corral them into a prayer, focusing on the one truth that fills me with hope: God’s steadfast love endures forever.

His steadfast love is the one constant in a changing world. His steadfast love is the promise I wrap my heart and mind around, secure in the knowledge that I can run into His arms as often as the tide changes or circumstances give rise to fear. His love is my oxygen.

Though people fail us, resources run out, and strength seeps through our fingers like sand, His love remains steadfast. His love is as sure as tomorrow’s sunrise. The same God who loved us yesterday loves us today and for all of eternity.

His steadfast love endures forever – anchor your heart in that rock-solid truth every day of this new year.

Prayer: “We give thanks to you, oh Lord, for you are good. Your steadfast love remains the same day after day, year after year, and forevermore. This is a firm promise – a covenantal promise – we can count on to carry us through every moment, every change, and into this new year. For your steadfast love, oh Lord, never ceases; your mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Amen.

  1. This New Year’s devo is so spot on. Fear likes to threaten, and this reminder about God’s promised love will help me start the new year right.
