Being intrigued by the word treasure for years, every time I see it in God’s Word, I begin pondering what kinds of treasures there are in life. The jewels that I treasure in my life are my dear family. They are the very joys of my being; very challenging – but rewarding. Praise God for devoted mothers!
Of course, spiritually speaking, I treasure Jesus’ peace and infinite joy that only He can bestow. The first desires that come to some people’s minds are fame and wealth, but we know they are temporal and hold no value in the heavenly economy.
*****
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:21 NKJV
Treasure comes in many different forms.
It means different things to different people.
To all it is something of value and worth.
It may be something old or something new.
Many times, one cannot place a value on it.
It is priceless to them.
So, what is your treasure, and where is your treasure?
Mine is not material. It is a moment of joy and peace.
When I have personal spiritual encounters with my Lord,
I feel His holy presence.
It brings a sense of well-being, and it is well with my soul.
My treasure cannot be physically touched or admired.
It is not seen with the naked eye or held in my hands.
It is felt with my spirit and heart.
My treasure cannot be taken from me.
My treasure is not temporal but will ultimately become eternal.
Nothing can be duplicated and surpass the joy and peace of this treasure.
Only Jesus can give it to me.

A Thought:
A little treasure for me
Is that one day I shall see
My Jesus face-to-face
In all His glory and grace.
Much of Charlene’s career experience was in office administration and primarily in the field of social services. Her most rewarding time though was when she served at Saddleback Church under Pastor Rick Warren and the Student Ministry staff.
She and her husband of nearly 60 years are the parents of four grown children and six grandchildren. After retiring, Charlene pursued her writing interests. She also enjoys drawing and sometimes expresses herself through illustrating some of her writings. Her published works include a divinely inspired book of poems and essays much of which reflect God’s creation and His love. The “MO State Poetry Society” also has printed one of her poems in their publication. Gospel Publishing has used several of her devotionals for their adult ministry. And more recently Focus on the Family chose a story she submitted to them on Families in Ministry.
Over the past 14 years, she has had the privilege of leading a ladies’ Life Group at her church, in Springfield, MO, into a deeper spiritual walk with the heavenly Father.
