It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for.
Ephesians 1:11
Merriam-Webster defines intentionality as “done by intention or design.” Intention is a personal resolve to act or think a certain way. I like to say intentionality is living with both eyes open.
Unfortunately, so many of us live without purpose. We muddle through each day, content to show up, do the job, and collect the paycheck. For some people, parenting is nothing more than making sure the kids are clothed and fed.
Yet God calls us to a higher purpose. Life, work, vocations, parenting, involve so much more than just checking items off on our daily to-do list. God offers something much deeper – a meaningful life, one lived with intentionality and purpose.
Living with intentionality implies a conscious choice to walk through each day with care, listening for His voice, prompting, and guidance. It involves seeking out God’s mission for our lives and allowing Him to use us as vessels through our words, our actions, and our relationships.
The more we seek Him, the more we will be able to discern His presence and involvement in every aspect of our lives. This is the heart of discipleship – deeper living, greater meaning, better loving – as we strive to become more like Christ so we can serve Him effectually.
What steps can you take to live with intentionality?
