“Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)
Lately, it seems as if our world is growing darker and darker. Every day, we are bombarded with a plethora of bad news. It has become so severe that I’ve had to limit my exposure to news bulletins, both on TV and on social media. My mind and heart can’t handle it.
But a light is only useful where there is darkness. Ignoring the dark won’t alter the fact that it is there. It is only in recognizing and addressing this conflict that I am compelled to step out of my comfort zone and into those places where God’s light is most needed. It is precisely those who are walking in darkness who need a light.
God placed you and me in this generation for a reason. He has called us to make a difference wherever he has planted us, to shine His light in a world that is troubled by sin and rebellion. Don’t hide your light – trim the wick and set it on a stand so others will see the hope that you have in Christ and glorify your Father in heaven.
Prayer: Lord, use me to dispel the darkness around me. Sine bright within me so that others will be drawn to you and give glory and honor to you and you alone. Amen.
Thought: “When God’s light is allowed to shine unhindered through your life, the darkness around you will be dispelled.” – Blackaby
