Honor

Honor

The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor. Proverbs 15:33 ESV

There is great value in being honored, esteemed, and respected

Yet the way to true honor – the kind that is worth pursuing, the kind that is lasting – comes through humility and a profound respect for God’s word

So many times we turn it the other way around

We seek recognition when we should be washing feet

We pursue honor instead of sitting with the hurting, the sorrowing, the needy

We chase after men’s esteem rather than adopting a heart of humility

The measure of our worth is not weighed upon the scales of success but upon the extent of our love and compassion for God and for others.

Ultimately, honor is found, not in our accomplishments or external validation but in knowing that God chose us as His beloved.

In turn, this knowledge leads to a more authentic and fulfilling life because our honor is based, not upon what we do or accomplish but on solely on whose we are.
