Hide Me

You are my hiding place;

You protect me from trouble.

You surround me with songs of victory.

Psalm 32:7 (NLT)

Psalm 32 retraces David’s journey from a condemned sinner to a man whose sin has been pardoned. Unlike Adam and Eve who hid from God when they heard His voice in the garden, or Jonah who tried to run away from God, David ran to God. He understood God was the only One who could erase his guilt and shame.

            Note David didn’t state, “You are a hiding place,” suggesting God is just one option. No, he categorically declares, “You are my hiding place.” In God, David found peace and protection from the messiness and chaos of life.

            At some point, we could all use a hiding place. I’m not talking about a physical place. I’m talking about a buffer between us and the ugliness of life. That buffer is Jesus.

When our world starts to unravel, we can run to Him and hide in the shelter of His wings. He covers us with His love and puts a song in our hearts to boot. Not just a simple praise chorus but songs of victory!

Thought: “Safety comes in our nearness to God, not in our distance from our enemies.” – Dillon Burroughs
