Welcome!

God is Still God

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling . . . Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” Psalm 46: 1-11 ESV

Psalm 46 is one that I return to over and over. In a world so full of darkness, where the lines between good and evil seem to blur a bit more each day, I constantly need to be reminded that God is still God and I am not.

“If there is an all-powerful, loving God who is accomplishing his purposes behind the scenes, then we must never look at our present circumstances and conclude that what we see is all there is to reality. No matter what life looks like presently, no matter how much it appears that evil is winning, humans don’t have the last word. God has the last word, and it is a word of hope, peace, and victory to those who love him and who are walking in his will. But God’s purposes take time to work out. So what we need while we wait for God’s answer is patience and courage that comes from robust faith, and an absolute, flat-out refusal to believe that what we see is what we get.” Rebecca Pippert, A Heart for God: Learning from David Through the Tough Choices of Life.

Be still and know that I am God. Memorize this verse and plant this truth firmly in your mind, then let it trickle down into your heart and permeate your soul. Ultimately, we do not need to know the why or how as long as we know and trust the Who.

Prayer: Today, I will walk in faith. I choose to trust you, Lord, regardless of circumstances. When my soul grows weary, bring me back to your Word. Remind me, as often as needed throughout this day, that you are still on the throne. Nothing and no one can change that. Amen.

Thought: Worry is believing God won’t get it right.” – Todd Wagner
