Be strong and courageous! Don’t be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria or his mighty army, for there is a power far greater on our side! He may have a great army, but they are merely men. We have the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!
2 Chronicles 32:7-8 (NLT)
Fear had crippled the people of Judah. It laid siege to their hearts and spirits, rendering them hopeless and weak-kneed. Yet, in the face of such great obstacles, Hezekiah rose up before them and reminded them that they had a power far greater than the Assyrian army; they had God on their side. Though their foe was great, God was even greater. Salvation was theirs, not because of their might or skills, but because the LORD was fighting their battles.
That’s the bottom line, isn’t it? If we know Jesus as our Savior, we can rest assured the LORD is on our side. He is fighting our battles. The odds may be stacked against us, humanly speaking, yet we are victors because, from heaven’s viewpoint, the scales lean in God’s favor. It’s not until we fully grasp this truth that we can stop striving and allow God to be God.
Be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10) Plant this truth firmly in your mind, then let it trickle down into your heart and permeate your soul.
Trust does not need to know the why or how, as long as it knows the Who.
