Welcome!

God is Listening

I cry out to the LORD; I plead for the LORD’s mercy.

I pour out my complaints before him and tell him all my troubles.

Psalm 142:1-2 (NLT)

“Mom, are you listening?”

I confess there are times when I am so weary, I tune out all the voices around me. It’s not that I don’t care about my sons or what they have to say. On the contrary, I’ve always encouraged them to voice their opinions, share what’s going on in their lives, and open up about their fears and concerns. Unfortunately, there are times when I’m not there mentally or emotionally. Though I hear them, I’m not really listening.

I’m so thankful that doesn’t happen with God. Our heavenly Father is always available, always listening, always paying attention to our words, our tears and sighs. We can pour out our souls to Him, tell Him about our troubles, and share our innermost thoughts without wondering if He’s truly paying attention. His ear is always inclined to listen to His beloved children.

The God who created us also loves us. He longs, He yearns for us to come into His presence, to pull up a chair and chat awhile, to divulge what’s on our hearts and minds, to share our most intimate thoughts. He is our Abba, our heavenly Father, who says, “I’m never too busy, too preoccupied, too tired, to listen to you, my dear child. Come, let’s talk awhile.”

Thought: “Jesus hears us, and in His own good time will give an answer.” – J.C. Ryle
