The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” Psalm 32:8 (NLT)
There are moments in our lives when God clearly speaks or intervenes amidst our daily routines. I call them God Moments. The Israelites experienced God Moments over and over, from the miraculous deliverance from Egypt to the parting of the Red Sea to God providing for their every need. Yet, for many, those God Moments left their hearts unchanged. They were the same after the parting of the Red Sea as they were before they crossed the Red Sea (Exodus 17:7). Only a handful (Caleb and Joshua, for example) learned from those experiences, and their faith was stronger as a result. They grasped the truth that the God who freed them from Egypt was the same God who would lead them every day of their lives.
It’s possible to go through life with our eyes closed – not physically but spiritually. Something happens that is obviously from the hand of God, yet we use words like “I’m so lucky” rather than “I’m so blessed” and fail to attribute praise where praise is due. Truth is, as children of God, we are not casualties of fate or luck. We have a loving Father who watches over us, who cares for us, who provides in miraculous ways. The more we seek Him, the more we will be able to discern His fingerprint all over our lives.
Let me close with these lyrics from the song “Evidence,” by Josh Baldwin:
All throughout my history
Your faithfulness has walked beside me
The winter storms made way for spring
In every season, from where I’m standing
I see the evidence of Your goodness
All over my life, all over my life
I see Your promises in fulfillment
All over my life, all over my life
Prayer: Lord, let me never fail to see your hand, whether in the midst of the miraculous or the mundane. Help me walk with my eyes wide open, so I may see the evidence of Your love all over my life. May each God Moment alter my life, strengthen my trust, and embolden my faith. For it is you who deserves all the praise. Amen
