“Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.”
Proverbs 3:9-10 (ESV)
Firstfruits is a term mentioned in the Old and New Testaments. It refers to the first and best portions of the Israelites’ harvest. By offering the firstfruits of their crops, the Israelites expressed their gratitude and trust in God for His provision. It served as recognition that everything they possessed originated from God and belonged to Him.
Nowadays, we offer God our tithe as representative of our firstfruits. But firstfruits aren’t merely material. What about those gifts that aren’t tangible?
God has given us a marvelous gift called ‘time.’ The wonderful thing about this gift is that we can give it back to Him as a firstfruit. By spending the best parts of our day—mostly those first moments before we hit the floor running—in quiet communion with Him, we open the door to receiving God’s wisdom and guidance in our day’s work.
Thought: “If you will make time with God your first priority, everything else in your life will fall into place.” – Joyce Meyer
