“So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead”. James 2:17 NKJV
Faith without works is mere piety, a devotion to God that appears admirable yet is often just pretense. James tells us that true, sincere faith cannot help but produce works.
I can tell my husband every day that I love him, but if I fail to demonstrate it through my actions, then my words are empty and merely a semblance of love.
True, Christlike faith leads to action.
It is evident, not only in my worship on Sunday, but in the way I treat my neighbor on Monday morning.
It is demonstrated, not just in my morning prayers, but in my daily posture – in washing feet, in sitting with the sorrowing, in loving the misfits, in reaching out to the broken-hearted.
True, Christlike faith is not about religious ceremony but about service. Especially when no one is watching.
True, Christlike faith is sharing the overflow of the love and grace that God has poured on us.
