By His divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life.
We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself
by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
2 Peter 1:3 (NLT)
One of my biggest oversights, as a disciple of Christ, is stepping into the fullness of all God has for me – not down the road or reserved for some future date – but right here, right now. The moment I received Christ into my life, His Spirit filled me with everything I need to live a godly life. Whether it be wisdom to make the right decisions, peace for tomorrow, or strength for each day, God has already supplied.
“Salvation is like a great hamper filled full of every possible blessing of God, and our task is to discover – personally, progressively, ceaselessly – what has thus been given to us once for all.”1 The moment we accept His salvation, we transition from paupers to recipients of Christ’s glorious, unlimited resources as His Spirit indwells us (Ephesians 3:16).
When we cease to focus on our abilities or inabilities and focus instead on His sufficiency, then we step into His strength, His Wisdom, and are thus empowered to fulfill His calling upon our lives. Our responsibility has never been to determine our qualifications for the jobs He’s assigned us. Our responsibility is simply to walk with God, seek His face continually, and grow to know Him in a personal and intimate way. The rest is up to Him.
Recognize what you are in Christ – empowered – and what you have – infinite resources. Lay hold of His blessings. Claim His gifts, step into His power, and prepare to be amazed at what God will do in you and through you.
