Welcome!

Compassion without action

“So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.” Matthew 20:34 NKJV

Compassion without action is called pity.

Throughout the Gospels, we see that Jesus’ compassion consistently led to action.

Because compassion involves more than just pity.

Compassion puts feet to those feelings of pity.

Compassion seeks ways to relieve the suffering of others.

I love this quote by Henry Nouwen: “Compassion asks us to go where it hurts, to enter into the places of pain, to share in brokenness, fear, confusion, and anguish. Compassion challenges us to cry out with those in misery, to mourn with those who are lonely, to weep with those in tears. Compassion requires us to be weak with the weak, vulnerable with the vulnerable, and powerless with the powerless. Compassion means full immersion in the condition of being human.”

Today, reach out with compassion. Call a friend who is lonely, help a neighbor who is homebound, write a note of encouragement.

There is always someone in your immediate circle who could benefit from your simplest gesture of compassion.

(For those who are beyond your sphere of influence, take time to pray for them—especially those war-torn countries like Gaza and Ukraine).
