Welcome!

Christmas 365 Days a Year

But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope; the steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:21-23 (ESV)

Post-Christmas blues are common. So much time and energy – not to mention money – are spent on this one day that many of us suffer a serious letdown once the presents have been unwrapped, the stockings emptied, and there’s nothing left of the turkey but a pile of bones. The anticipation of Christmas wears off faster than a temporary tattoo.

Thankfully, that’s not the case with God. He offers us a new gift every day, January 1st through December 31st.

In the midst of intense trouble and feeling downcoast, Jeremiah recalls five important truths: 1/God’s love is steadfast, immovable, it never wavers. 2/His love never ceases. 3/His mercies never run out. 4/His mercies are brand-new every morning. 5/God is faithful.

God’s mercies can be hard to make out when we’re battered by troubles. It’s challenging to sense His love when our faith is put to the flame. It’s tricky to remember His faithfulness when we are in the pit. Yet God’s word affirms the truth that God’s love is the one constant we can count on, even if our body or mind says otherwise. His love does not depend on who we are, what we’re doing, or what we’ve failed to do. God’s love and mercies rest on His promises. He offers us Himself anew each dawn. Thus we have hope.

Every day is Christmas for those who have placed their trust in Christ. His mercies are new every single morning, packaged and waiting for you to unwrap and claim them as your own. So go on, thank God, then open your gift. It’s everything you need for today plus a tad more.

Thought: “God’s mercy is fresh and new every morning.” – Joyce Meyer
