Obedient Faith
“Joseph did as the angel of the Lord commanded.” What an epithet! Obedient to God, no matter the cost. Oh, that the same might be said of us!
The Light by Which We See
Our story would have ended very differently had Christ not come to rescue us from spiritual darkness. Without Him, we would be lost forever. He is the Light that brings hope and guides us safely home.
Chosen
Zechariah likely felt the same about his life– ordinary, run-of-the-mill, middling, mediocre – especially given that he and his wife were childless. Then all of that changed when Zechariah’s name was chosen to enter the sanctuary of the Lord. Life as he knew it would never be the same.
THE ENCOURAGING COMMUNITY
Friendship in Christ is a blessed gift. My church family offers encouragement to become more Christ-like by reminding me and others of who we are and who we can become.
A Tale of Two Kings
How striking the contrast between Herod, a choleric despot inflicting death, versus Jesus, our Deliverer, come to impart life. The former instilled fear, but Jesus instilled hope.
Perishable
Through Jesus, we have eternal life. When He died on the cross, He removed that perishable state for all those who confess Him as LORD and Savior.
Horn of Salvation
God’s plan wasn’t political, it was spiritual. God sent His Son, Jesus, to be our Horn of Salvation. Through His death on the cross, He would liberate all who believed in Him from the oppression of sin.
Advent; A Time For Reflection
This Christmas, take time to meditate on God’s Word. Claim His promises. Cling to His words of love and comfort. Ponder them, treasure them, and allow them to take root in your heart and mind. It’s the best gift you will ever give yourself.
Giving Thanks
By focusing on the blessings in our lives instead of the burdens, Thanksgiving can become a beautiful segue into Christmas. Once the turkey has been eaten, the football game is over, and the Macy’s parade has ended, I encourage you to carry thanks giving into the next season, instead of tucking it away with the leftovers. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate as we prepare for Christmas.
