Bubbling Brooks

The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook. Proverbs 18:4 ESV

Deep waters can be deceiving. They sometimes contain hidden dangers. So man’s words hold the potential for both insight or foolishness.

In contrast, a bubbling brook finds its source in the fountain of wisdom – God Himself. It offers continual refreshment and provides discernment and true wisdom.

Let me ask you a personal question: what content comes out of your mouth? Is it purely your own opinion or is it anchored in truth? Do your words contain the potential to harm or to bless? Ask the Lord to reveal to you anything that does not benefit others.

Like the Psalmist, may we say, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14
