“Here I am! Send me.”

Isaiah 6:8 (ESV)

As we read through Scripture, it’s tempting to wonder if we could ever be used by God like the great heroes of the Faith. We tend to think God chose them because they possessed ‘something special.’ “The heroes of the faith had one thing in common; They were all ordinary people with no power of their own. The difference is the mighty presence of God” (1).

Did you catch that? Ordinary people – like you and me. Their power and efficacity did not depend on their abilities, experiences, power of speech, or education. The reason they were effective was due to the God who called and anointed them.

Do you want to serve God but wonder if you have what it takes? The only ‘condition’ is a heart that is willing to say, “Here I am! Send me.”

God is not searching for ability, He’s looking for availability.

The time is right in the nation
for works of power and authority;
God’s looking for a people who are willing
to be counted in His glorious victory.

Chorus:
Here I am, wholly available –
as for me, I will serve the Lord.
