But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:41-42 (NASB) Martha had a predicament; the pot of potatoes was bubbling over, the steaks were ready to …

THE WEARY
Guest post by Author Julia Kay “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew …
Beautiful Feet
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.” Isaiah 52:7 (ESV) Now that summer is here, I’ve been more conscientious about caring for my feet. I mean, who wants to …
Such Sweet Comfort
Guest post by Author Lauri Lemke Thompson I became hooked on a TV series called Meerkat Manor. Researchers studied and filmed a meerkat clan for over ten years. One of the most interesting revelations for me was the interactive behavior of the cute 10-inch-long critters, who often stand erect on their hind legs. I found …
Well Encounters, Part Three: Moses
That day, by the well, was my lowest point. Fearful, humiliated, doubting my own self-worth, I questioned God’s anointing on my life. Though my birth parents told me I was brought into this world for a special purpose, I’d failed to include God in that equation. I thought I could use my position, my influence, and my strength to make a difference – but God had a different plan. He would fulfill His promise to free the Israelites through HIS power – not mine.
Well Encounters, Part two: Hagar
How quickly I forgot that promise! In the midst of my sorrow, I saw nothing but desert and death. I overlooked God’s pledge to me and to Ishmael. Had I remembered it, I would have clung to hope. Had I recalled God’s faithfulness when I wandered into the desert that first time, perhaps my outlook and my response would have been entirely different.
Well Encounters, Part One: The Samaritan Woman
Encounters at the Well, part one: The Samaritan Woman.
As soon as the words spilled out, I realized the truth in my words. This man was not just any Jew. He was the one person who knew everything I’d done yet accepted me. He knew my past and my present yet failed to condemn me. He knew my questions and my doubts and provided the answers for which I’d been searching. He’d known I needed more than just a drink of water. I needed forgiveness. I needed acceptance. I needed a fresh start. I needed Him.
GOD’S PROTECTION
Each day, I have to make a decision to travel toward or away from God’s protection. If I am careless or make a wrong or unsafe choice, with His guidance, I am able to resist the world’s evils and find guidance in this changing world.
How Will You Be Remembered?
“Now Joshua son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had placed his hands on him; and the Israelites listened to him and did just what the Lord had commanded Moses. No prophet ever again arose in Israel like Moses, who knew the Lord face to face. He did all the signs and wonders the Lord had sent him to do …
A Different Perspective
Your God is far greater than any circumstance you might be facing. Like Caleb and Joshua, ask God to give you eyes of faith to look beyond the black and white of your current situation to God who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). As a child of God, there is so much more in store for you than what the bare eye can see (Hebrews 11:1).
